IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Mae
Carter
December 14, 1948 – February 20, 2022
Malad, Idaho… Shirley Mae Pressley Carter, 73, longtime resident of Malad, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022, in her home while surrounded by her children. Shirley was born on December 14, 1948 in Taccoa, Georgia, a daughter of Wilbourn and Inez Pressley.
Shirley had served the community for many years as a CNA Home Healthcare Provider. Due to her profession, she was able to cultivate countless relationships with her clients. She took great pride in caring for many of the people in Malad and loving them as if they were her own family. Shirley could usually be seen randomly throughout the day, offering a neighborly wave and a smile while enroute to patient's homes.
Shirley loved her family with conviction and cherished every moment she spent with them. She had a tremendous heart of gold, which was demonstrated by her seeing the good in all and welcoming her home to anyone who came around. Simply put, her kind spirit was contagious with everyone she met.
Much of her free time was spent at her kitchen table with a cup of coffee enjoying crossword puzzles, scratch off lottery tickets, trivia, and games shows. Pastimes included spending time with her loved ones, reading, watching television, dancing, and horseback riding.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: James Carter of Malad, Idaho, Tara Carter of Garland, Utah, Tarina Franklin of Boise, Idaho, and Pitch Butcher of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother Preston Pressley of Byron, Georgia, eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 4 sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hands of Hope Home Health & Hospice, specifically Marie Carter and Brittny Hubbard, for the exceptional care provided to Shirley during her last days.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday February 23, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. in Malad, Idaho. Followed by graveside services at the Malad Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
