Mike John
Malad.....Michael Eldon John, 53 of malad, passed away on June 21, 2009 at home with his family by his side following a brave with cancer. Mike was born March 2, 1956 in Malad, a son of Eldon and Merle Colton John. He attended school in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School. Mike has worked in various jobs through the years. In his early years he worked on the family dairy farm, where he drove the milk truck. He also had worked for the State of Idaho following the Teton Dam disaster, for construction on the Wal Mart Distribution center, for Lazy Boy and Nucor Steel, was a truck driver for LeGrande Johnson Co., had hauled cattle and worked the rodeo's for several years. Mike married Elaine Young Roberts and they later divorced. They were blessed with a son, David Eldon John. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, snowmobiling, raising and showing cattle, and rodeo. He was known for his willingness to help others in need. Mike was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the FFA, worked with the 4-H program and was a member of the Idaho Cattleman's Association. He raised pure Angus cattle and was recognized with the Idaho Cattleman's Association Beef Award in 1972. He also was a member of the Samaria Water board. He is survived by his companion and the love of his life; Gloria Christine (Norman) John of Samaria a son; David Eldon( Kristy) John of Logan, Utah; his father and step mother; Eldon (Jeanne Jenkins) John of Malad; a brother; Mark D. (JoLynn) John of malad; sisters; Sandra Kay Braker of Samaria; Wendy Sue (James) Scalise of Malad. A step son; Anthony Gene Norman and his grandchildren; Dakota Appel Norman and Aidan Hydman Norman. Also survivng are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; Merle Colton John; grandparents and a sister; Leslie Ann Cavender. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 26, 2009 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, with Bishop Paul Tubbs, officiating. Friends may visit with the John family on Wednesday evening July 25, from 6-8 pm at the Horsley Funeral home 132 W. 300 N. and on thursday at the funeral home prior to services from 10:30-11:30 am. Burial will follow in the Samaria Cemetery.
