Lila Gibson Thorpe 1917 – 2010

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend, Lila Gibson Thorpe, 93, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2010, surrounded by her loving family members.
Lila was born in Malad City, Idaho on January 17, 1917 to David James Gibson and Eliza Challenger Gibson. She grew up with four brothers, Eli, Dave, Don and Glen and four sisters, Lil, Agnes, Elsie, and Jessie. She had close relationships with her nieces and nephews. She married her sweetheart and eternal companion, John Thomas Thorpe on July 2, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized and they were sealed to their children in the Logan Temple on July 2, 1959 for time and for all eternity. Their 64 years of 'togetherness' ended on February 9, 2003, when Tommy passed away at the age of 91.
Lila is survived by her brother, Glen Gibson of Arizona and her daughters, Karen (Charles) Hyer of Preston, Idaho; Paula (Brent) Romrell of Malad City, Idaho; Nancy (Farrell) Christoffersen of Plain City, Utah; twin sons, Tom (Brenda) Thorpe of Brigham City, Utah; and Tim Thorpe of Malad City, Idaho. She is survived by 15 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren and by many more loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1 at the Malad 2nd and 4th Ward Church located at 20 S. 100 W. in Malad City at 12:00 p.m.
Friend and relatives may attend her viewing on Thursday at the Malad 2nd and 4th Ward Church from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. before the service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Horsley Funeral Home, Malad City. Condolences may be sent to www.horsleyfuneralhome.com. Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
