Obituary

Howard Ferren Hall passed away on February 16, 2024

Howard was a lifelong resident of McCammon, Idaho born on July 30, 1924 to Leo Harris Hall and Esther Emma Wolverton Hall. He attended school in McCammon  graduating from McCammon High School where he was an avid basketball and football player. He went on to attend Idaho State College until being drafted in to the Navy. Janice Carlile caught his eye in high school and they were married May 22, 1944. Howard entered the Navy soon after they were married, and served 1944-1946 as a Yeoman on the USS Pensacola in the Pacific Theater. His fleet was near Japan when the atomic bomb that won WWII was dropped.

After he returned home from the war he built their first home on Jensen Road south of McCammon which started his career in carpentry. He built many homes, schools and churches in southeast Idaho. He was especially proud of being the Superintendent, and building of the McCammon LDS Stake Center.

Howard and Janice enjoyed traveling, and in their younger years they traveled the western states showing their appaloosa horses. Howard also raised Angus cattle on their farm near McCammon.

Howard is survived by his children Michael Hall, Shelley (Monte) Lish, Kevin Hall and Michele (Ryan) Thompson, 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Janice and their youngest son Kim.

Services will be held Saturday February 24 at 12:00 at the McCammon LDS Stake Center with a viewing from 10:30-11:30 prior to the service. Burial with full military rites will be at Norton Cemetery in McCammon.
