IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Don James
Larson
April 23, 1940 – September 19, 2024
Don James Larson, 84, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Don James Larson was born April 23, 1940. He was born to Paul Stewart Larson and Ethel May James. Don had one brother, David Paul Larson, and three sisters: Jean Larson Munk, Lara Larson Noren, and Julie Larson.
Don loved the outdoors from the time he was incredibly young. There were always many chores to be done, and Don, David, and their father did all the chores every morning before breakfast, without a single complaint. Don loved all animals and nature.
Don was raised in Garland, Utah. He graduated from Bear River High School and then fulfilled a mission to the Eastern Atlantic States. He was in the National Guard for eight years and was stationed at Fort Old in California for Basic Training.
Don's family had some dairy cows and raised alfalfa and sugar beets in East Garland, Utah. In the Fall of 1964, the family moved to Sheridan, Montana where they purchased a ranch.
At first the Larsons raised sheep on the ranch, but later, they raised beef cattle and had a few dairy cows for milk. In about 1990 they sold the ranch, Don, and David stayed on to work for a while for the new owner.
Don loved gardening. He also loved little children and served in the Nursery, Primary, Mutual, and Scouting. He also served in a number of other Church Callings - as Home Teacher and 2nd Counselor in a Bishopric. He was very dependable and if he said he would do something - he would do it.
Don married Evelyn Allen on April 20, 1979, in the Idaho Falls Temple. A while later Don and Evelyn decided it was time to move from Sheridan, as Evelyn's sister's husband had passed away and they thought they could be of help to her, if she needed it. They found a house in McCammon, Idaho and moved into it in May of 1991. Don worked there at different small jobs, and then secured a maintenance job at the 'Flying J' in McCammon.
Don and Evelyn enjoyed taking trips where they could see beautiful scenery, wildlife, and take pictures. They also enjoyed music, mostly the older music. Don loved sports, especially basketball in his earlier years.
On December 15, 2008, Don and Evelyn moved to Downey, Idaho. In Downey Don served as a Ministering brother and he made it a service project to keep the Church parking lot and surrounding Church grounds picked up and in good condition. He was also assigned to make sure that all the windows and doors of the Church house were locked up and secure every evening. He fulfilled this calling faithfully until his health began to decline.
Finally, they had to move Don to the Pocatello Caring Hearts Assisted Living Center to care for him.
Don lived a simple life, but he lived a GOOD life with an undying testimony of the Savior and of His Gospel.
Don passed away on September 19, 2024. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Allen Larson, his sisters, Jean Larson (Munk). Lara Larson (Noren), and Julie Larson. He is preceded in death by his brother David
Larson and by his parents.
