Obituary

Dixie Lee Murakami (81) passed away August 20,2026 in Pocatello, Idaho.

She was born April 7, 1945, in Malad Idaho, the youngest of 11 children to Levi B. And Emma S. Ekstrom. She loved her country life being raised in Pleasantview.

She married Bill Murakami, and they later divorce. She lived most of her life in Meridian Idaho, moving back to Pocatello in her later years to be closer to family. Dixie was a firm believer that “ Life is better with paw prints.” She was a dedicated dog lover caring for several pets throughout her life. While they were not her whole life their companionship made her life whole.

She leaves behind her sister-in-law Vicki Sue Ekstrom and countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Levi, Doris, John, Pearl, Donald, Grant, Gloria, Jay, Hazel, Albert and many four-legged friends.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Malad City Cemetery.
