Charles Nielsen
South Jordan…Charles James Nielsen, 85, husband of Ralene Moon Nielsen, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012. He was born October 31, 1926, in Malad, Idaho, oldest son of Charlie Janus and Ina Petersen Nielsen. Born and raised in Malad. He served an LDS mission to the Eastern States Mission. He married Ralene in the Logan LDS temple on April 8, 1949. His successful retail management career took him to several states over a 40 year period. After retirement he and his sweetheart served several missions for the church including 9 years at the family history center. He enjoyed serving in the church, working, gardening, hunting, his aviary, and cooking popcorn on Sunday nights for friends and family. Survived by his wife Ralene (South Jordan), children Charlene Campbell, Darhl (Joanne), DeeRay (Julie), Sharon Dunn (Brian), Scott (Connie), Jedd (Jana), 32 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Also siblings KleaMae Brown, LouDell, Leo, Eldon, and Helen Smith. Preceded in death by his son, Cleon, and brother, David.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012, at the LDS Chapel - 1988 West 11400 South, South Jordan, Utah. Viewing Wednesday August 29, 6 to 8 p.m. at same local church and 9:30 to 10:30 on Thursday. Internment at the Malad City cemetery.
