Obituary

Ben H. Bowen, 88 passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2016.

Ben was born March 19, 1928 to Harry C. and Jennie Deseret Bybee Bowen in Downey, ID and was the youngest of 8 children. He is truly the end of a great era.

Ben grew up in Downey, ID Graduating from Downey High School in 1946. He joined the United States Navy and was a Seabee, serving in Guam from 1946-48. After his honorable discharge he attended Idaho State University where he is a charter member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity and later served as President of the Alumni Association. He is also a charter member of the American Legion in Downey. Ben has been a life long volunteer for his community and Idaho State University. He retired in 1987 after 39 years at the Downey State Bank. Wood and Leather work were his favorite hobbies and he took great satisfaction in sharing his accomplishments as well as teaching others the art of both.

Preceding him in death are , his parents, his wife of 62 years, Marion Clark Bowen and all of his siblings, the late Max C. Bowen, Jennie Bowen, Jean Lazusky, John Bowen, LaRee Wise, Lou Steed, and William (Bill) Bowen.

Ben is survived by four children, Jennifer K. Bowen, Pocatello, ID, Jeannette Minou, (Larry Morrison) Downey, ID, Bengie Jessica (Brien) Hansen, Libby, MT and Frank B. (Janet) Bowen, Brenham, TX, 4 grandchildren, Ryan Ben (Mindy) Ward, Pocatello, ID, Jessica (Brian) Lycan, Denver, CO and Bracken and Tristan Bowen, Brenham, TX. and three great-grandchildren, Carter Michael & Kellen Ben Ward, Pocatello, ID and Kymberlin Kay Lycan, Denver, CO.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the Horsley's Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview Dr. in Arimo. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Cambridge Cemetery and Military Rites given by the Downey American Legion.
