Ann Tate Alger, age 55, of Malad, Idaho was called home to her Father in Heaven on Friday, April 6, 2012, due to pulmonary emboli. Ann was born to R. Ray and Miriam B. Tate, September 26, 1956, in Provo, UT. She graduated from Anaconda High School in 1975 and attended Brigham Young University. There she met George E. Alger, Jr., who became her best friend. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 19, 1979. Ann loved the job she held for 33 years – wife and mother. Nothing brought more joy than raising her three beautiful children, Steven Toshio, Miriam Fumiko and Miya Ray. Ann always said that her favorite thing to do was “nothing”, and while that’s true, she did much more than nothing. Ann’s life was filled with a variety “somethings”. She was always in the service of others, from making visits to the hospital to making cupcakes for any occasion. Ann was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and chose to faithfully magnify her callings in Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society. She also served the community as a school volunteer and a member of the Library Board. Ann’s love for the Lord was exemplary, as was her love for family and friends. No one ever had to wonder if she had a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She always expressed her love to family and friends. Some of Ann’s favorite things were rocks from around the world, nativity sets, stormy weather, and all things pink. She had a great sense of humor. Her favorite times were being with those she loved telling stories and making people laugh. She was able to make any situation fun. She had the voice of an angel and her talent was passed on to her children. The Alger family loved to sing together, whether in church, or on the front porch with George accompanying on the guitar. Ann was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and self-proclaimed but never refuted “favorite cousin” and will be lovingly remembered by her family: husband George; children Toshio, Fumiko and Miya Alger; parents Ray and Miriam Tate; and siblings Alice, Steven, George, Helen and Amy Tate, as well as by her many extended family members and dear friends. We may have said farewell but not goodbye. Rest well Mrs. Alger. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 4th Ward Chapel 20 S. 100 W. Friends may visit with the Alger family on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. in Malad (766-4330) and on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to funeral from 10:00-11:30 am. Burial will follow in the malad City Cemetery.
